Many people think that only hotel belong to the hospitality. However, hospitality is broader. Every company which focused on customer satisfaction and luxury needs is included in it. The company which involved in this industry relies on providing an excellent level of service; therefore they hire employees based on their skill and behavior. This industry also relies on disposable income which sums up that the major customers are tourist and rich people.
If economic times is challenging; it will be hard for business owners in this industry to keep going. Hospitality and Service industry has three main categories. First category is food and beverages.
Food and beverages is the biggest categories in this industry because it includes all from high-end restaurant to fast food eateries. Sometimes it combines with another business, such as in movie theatres or a restaurant in a hotel. Second category is accommodation. Every company which provides lodging is included in this category. However, a company in accommodation category is better to focus on integrating comfort, efficiency and attentive customer service because if the customers is satisfied with the service, there is a possibility they will come again.
Third category is travel and tourism. This category includes transportation such as airlines, trains, and cruise ships. The travel agency who plans for your trip and the tourist destination place which attract tourist to come are also a part of this category. Same as other industry, hospitality and service industry have some current issues going on.
The issues are varied. There are more global issues such as; labor and skills issue, multicultural issue, higher education and many more or there are issues that are happening in Indonesia such as the delayed incident of Lion air. Overall, this paper will discuss about the current issues in the hospitality and service industry. Cynthia II. Accor is market leader in the Indonesian archipelago with 85 hotels and 16, rooms in 24 cities. On the right are the hotels under Accor Hotel group.
